Removing and installing navigation system with CD drive control unitJ401 (MMI up to week 44/08)

Removing and installing navigation system with CD drive control unit -J401- (MMI up to week 44/08)

Navigation system with CD drive control unit -J401- is located behind luggage compartment side trim (left-side) in infotainment rack.

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Radio release tool -T10057-

t	Protective cap for cable connector -VAS 6223/9-

–	Switch off all electrical equipment.

–	Remove ignition key.

–	When renewing control unit, select „Replacement“ function for appropriate control unit in „Guided Fault Finding“.

Removing

–	Open left-side luggage compartment storage area.

–	Unscrew nuts -1-, -2-, -4- and -5- on infotainment rack -3-.

–	Pivot rack -3- into luggage compartment until connectors at navigation system with CD drive control unit -J401- are accessible.

–	Release and unplug connector at MOST bus.

–	Fit protective cap for cable connector -VAS 6223/9--1- onto MOST bus connector -2-.

–	Release and unplug remaining connectors at navigation system with CD drive control unit -J401-.

–	Insert two radio release tools -T10057- into release slots on navigation system with CD drive control unit -J401- until they engage. Pointed ends of tool grips must face outwards.

–	Pull the navigation system with CD drive control unit -J401- out of the rack.

–	Press release tabs on navigation system with CD drive control unit -J401- and remove radio release tool -T10057-.

Installing

–	Insert navigation system with CD drive control unit -J401- into mounting frame until it engages.

–	Plug in all connectors.

–	Install in reverse sequence of removal.
