TV system (Japan) > < Removing and installing TV tunerR78 (from week 45/08 onwards)

Removing and installing digital TV tunerR171 (from model year 2013 onwards)
Removing and installing digital TV tuner -R171- (from model year 2013 onwards)
Digital TV tuner -R171- is located behind luggage compartment side trim (left-side) in infotainment rack.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Protective cap for cable connector -VAS 6223/9-
–  When renewing control unit, select „Replacement“ function for appropriate control unit in „Guided Fault Finding“.
To do so, use → Vehicle diagnostic tester.
–  Switch off all electrical equipment.
–  Remove ignition key.
Removing
First remove digital sound package control unit -J525- together with bracket, if fitted.
–  Open left-side luggage compartment storage area.
–  Release and unplug connectors at digital sound package control unit -J525-.

–  Fit protective cap for cable connector -VAS 6223/9--1- onto MOST bus connector -2-.
  A97-0760
–  Unscrew nuts -1- and bolts -3- from bracket -2- and lift bracket with digital sound package control unit -J525--2- into luggage compartment.
–  Release and unplug connectors on digital TV tuner -R171-.
  A91-11283
–  Fit protective cap for cable connector -VAS 6223/9--1- onto MOST bus connector -2-.
  A97-0760
–  Unscrew bolts -arrows- at digital TV tuner -R171--1-.
–  Remove the digital TV tuner -R171--1- from the rack -2-.
Installing
–  Install in reverse sequence of removal.
Tightening torques → Chapter
  A91-11926
