The »windscreen washing« function is activated when the driver pulls back the intermittent wiper switch -E22-. |
The procedure is as follows: |
l
| The steering column electronics control unit -J527- transmits the »windscreen washing« information across the convenience CAN bus to the onboard supply control unit -J519-. |
l
| As long as the driver keeps pulling the intermittent wiper switch -E22-, the onboard supply control unit -J519- keeps the washer pump -V5- activated, and washing fluid is sprayed onto the windscreen (if a dual washer pump is fitted, the windscreen washer is activated as opposed to the rear washer). |
l
| The onboard supply control unit -J519- relays the »windscreen washing« information concurrently across the LIN bus to the wiper motor control unit -J400-. The latter then activates the wiper motor -V- after a specified delay period (to prevent a dry wipe). The wiper motor -V- is integrated in the wiper motor control unit -J400-. |
l
| While the headlights are on, the onboard supply control unit -J519- periodically also activates the headlight washer system pump -V11- (optional equipment). Refer to Chapter 5 for details. |
