Connecting Rod: Testing and Inspection
Connecting rod radial play, checking

Plastigage
Work sequence
-
Remove connecting rod bearing caps. Clean bearing caps and journals.

Place Plastigage over entire width of bearing journal or into bearing shells.
-
Install connecting rod bearing caps and tighten to 30 Nm. DO NOT turn crankshaft.

Remove connecting rod bearing caps again.
-
Compare width of Plastigage with calibrated scale.
-
Always replace connecting rod bolts.
