Avoid damaging oil seal - C - by only installing oil seal and selector shaft using assembly sleeve assembly sleeve 01E311120 - A -.

Pack space between sealing lip and dust lip half full with sealing grease G052128A1.

Lightly oil outer circumference of seal.

Drive oil seal - arrow - into housing as far as it will go.

The remaining installation steps are in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Vehicles with 6-cylinder engine:

Install exhaust system and perform stress-free alignment.

Install heat shield for drive shaft (left-side).

Continued for all vehicles:

-

Check gear oil level in transmission.
