Backrest Heating Element, Comfort Seat

Removing

-

Remove cover and padding from backrest. Refer to => [ Backrest Cover and Upholstery ].

-

Disconnect cover from upholstery. Refer to => [ Backrest Cover and Upholstery Separating and Connecting ] See: Service and
Repair/Overhaul/Front Seat Covers and Upholstery Assembly Overview.

Cut the wire - 1 - off directly at the old lower backrest heating element - 2 -.

-

Cut through the connecting bars and wires - arrows -. 

-

Carefully loosen the top and bottom of the backrest heating element -  C - and - D - and remove.

‹› The spacer fabric must not be damaged.

‹› The heating elements - A - and - B - remain on the backrest bolsters and the new backrest heating element is bonded over them.

Installation

-

Align the new backrest heating element on the upholstery -  1 -.

CAUTION!
‹› Make sure the new backrest bolster heating elements are bonded so they line up with the old ones.

‹› Remove the protective films in the bonding sequence for the heating element area.

‹› When removing the protective film, make sure the heating element is not damaged and that it is attached without wrinkles.

Bond the individual areas of the heating element in the sequence -  A, B, C and D -.

-

Route the connecting wires to the individual heating surfaces in the base of the gaps - arrows -.
