Intake Manifold with Fuel Rail

If the fuel rail is removed or replaced, the intake manifold runner position sensor (G336) must be adapted to the ECM. To do this, use Vehicle
Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051B) "Guided Functions".

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Hose clamp pliers (V.A.G 1921)

Removing

‹› To access the fuel injectors, the intake manifold and the fuel rail with intake manifold runner control valve must be removed.

‹› The Teflon seal and the O-ring must always be replaced.

‹› Fuel Rail Assembly Overview. Refer to => [ Fuel Rail Assembly Overview ] See: Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Fuel

CAUTION!
Fuel system is under pressure! Fuel pressure must be reduced to a residual pressure before opening high pressure area of injection
system. Refer to => [ Before Opening High Pressure Fuel Injection System ] See: Cylinder Head Assembly/Fuel Pressure Release/Service
and Repair.

Disconnect battery at the negative terminal.

Remove engine cover. Refer to => [ Engine Cover ] See: Access Cover/Service and Repair.

Disconnect vacuum line - arrow - to the EVAP canister.

Disconnect the following electrical connectors.

EVAP Canister Purge Regulator Valve (N80)

From Knock Sensor 1 (G61 )

From Intake Manifold Runner Control Valve (N316), Fuel Pressure Sensor ( G247) and the Camshaft Position Sensor (G40)

From fuel injectors

5

Throttle Valve Control Module (J338)

6

Intake Air Temperature Sensor (G42)

Disconnect electrical connector - 1 - from the camshaft position sensor (G40).
