CAUTION:  Do not damage the surface of the spring when driving on the lower spring base and spring retainer during assembly operations.

NOTE:  The left and right suspension struts are identical parts.

1. Clamp shock absorber in suspension strut mount.
2. Align lower spring base and base in direction of shock absorber eye, as illustrated.

NOTE:  Coat the contact surfaces between "lower spring base and the dished washer of the gas shock absorber with talcum.

3. Install compressed coil spring.

4. End of spring coil must be positioned at stop provided on base.
5. Install protective cap, boot, mounting ring, auxiliary spring, ring, mounting ring and spacer tube.
6. Install upper spring base.

7. Start of spring ("Federanfang"(spring beginning)) must be positioned at recess of the upper spring base (arrow).
