Air Injection Pump Relay: Testing and Inspection

SECONDARY AIR INJECTION (AIR) PUMP RELAY, CHECKING:

Requirements:

-

Fuel pump relay OK.

-

Fuses for secondary air injection pump relay OK.

NOTE: The relay for the secondary air injection pump is located in the relay station in the right-front footwell.

-

Switch ignition off.

-

Remove covering for lower right A-pillar.

-

Pull back carpet in right-front footwell.

Checking voltage supply for secondary air injection pump relay:

-

Remove secondary air injection pump relay from relay panel position 5.

-

Connect VAG 1527B voltage tester between relay panel socket 2 and Ground (GND).

The voltage tester LED must light up.

-

Connect VAG 15278 voltage tester between relay panel socket 6 and Ground (GND), then operate starter briefly.

Voltage tester LED must light up.

If LED does not light up:
-

Eliminate break in wiring using wiring diagram.

Checking triggering for secondary air injection pump relay:
