Refrigerant: Description and Operation
A/C Refrigerant System, Capacities
A/C refrigerant R-134a, system capacity
NOTE:
-
Always refer to safety precautions.
-
When charging the system on the high pressure side, always use the maximum amount of A/C refrigerant, as some of the refrigerant remains in the
hoses of the refrigerant recovery, recycling and recharging unit.
-
The compressor manufacturer Nippondenso has changed its name to "Denso".
-
To determine what compressor is used (Zexel, Sanden, Nippondenso/Denso) see Parts department.
-
A sticker with data about the capacity and the type of refrigerant is located in the engine compartment.
-
Features of the refrigerant system
-
Restrictor (yellow or red color marking)
-
Accumulator
-

A/C Refrigerant System, Capacities
-
Restrictors with different diameters are available as replacement parts, yellow color marking 1.54 mm, red color marking 1.42 mm.
-
Only restrictors with red or yellow color markings should be installed so that the cooling performance of the climate control system is not changed.
As of m.y. 2002, only restrictors with red color markings are installed in the Audi A4, if a restrictor with a yellow color marking is installed in this
vehicle, there should be no change in system capacity for this vehicle, see Parts department.
-
Different compressors are installed depending on the version, see Parts department.
