Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
‹› Old oil collecting and extracting device (V.A.G 1782 )
‹› Protective glasses
‹› Hand drill with plastic brush attachment
‹› Sealant
Removing
-
Loosen quick-release fasteners - 1 through 3 - and remove front and rear noise insulation.
-
Place old oil collecting and extracting device ( V.A.G 1782) under engine.

Drain engine oil.

Secure engine on the engine and transmission holder. Refer to => [ Engine, Securing to Engine and Transmission Holder ] See: Service and

Manual Transmission Remove clutch pressure plate. Refer to => Manual Transmission/Transaxle See: Transmission and Drivetrain/Manual

Mass Flywheel.

Remove left and right timing chain covers. Refer to => [ Left and Right Timing Chain Covers ] See: Timing Components/Timing Cover/Service

Remove lower timing chain cover. Refer to => [ Lower Timing Chain Cover ] See: Timing Components/Timing Cover/Service and Repair/Lower

Remove lower section of oil pan. Refer to => [ Oil Pan Lower Section ] See: Oil Pan Lower Section.

Remove oil pump. Refer to => [ Oil Pump ] See: Oil Pump/Service and Repair/Oil Pump.

Remove bolts - arrows - and remove lower oil baffle.
