Steering Column Lock: Service and Repair
Steering Lock with Ignition Switch, without Lock Cylinder
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
‹› Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)
Removing

Steering column, removing. Refer to => [ Steering Column ] See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Steering Column

Drill out shear head bolt
‹› To drill out shear head bolt, steering column must be clamped in a vise.
‹› With steering column installed, mounting bracket will be damaged.

Remove lock cylinder.

Remove steering lock with ignition switch without lock cylinder.
Installing

Place steering lock with ignition switch without lock cylinder on steering column and install shear head screws.

Install lock cylinder.

Tighten shear head bolts to 20 Nm.
Screw head bolts must be sheared off this torque range
Further installation occurs in reverse of removal
