Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Spring Compressor (V.A.G 1752/1)

‹› Adapter (V.A.G 1752/9)

‹› Spring Holder A4, Rear Axle (V.A.G 1752/16)

‹› Torque Wrench ( V.A.G 1331)

‹› Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1332)

Removing

On vehicles with Dynamic Ride Control (DRC II), empty the system. Refer to => [ Dynamic Ride Control, Emptying and Filling ] See: Suspension
Control ( Automatic - Electronic )/Service and Repair.

Dismount tire.

-

Remove coil spring. Refer to => [ Coil Spring ] See: Suspension Spring ( Coil / Leaf )/Service and Repair.

Remove nut - 1 - and remove bolts (Illustration without cover plate).

Remove bolts - 2 -.

‹› Wheel housing liner remains installed.

Remove shock absorber.

Installing

‹› Replace the bolts and self-locking nuts. Notes in exploded view diagrams. Refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Housing, Steel ] .
