Removing and installing oil pump
Removing and installing oil pump
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Used oil collection and extraction unit -V.A.G 1782-
  W00-10211
Removing
l  Engine/gearbox assembly removed; engine separated from gearbox → Chapter.
l  Engine secured with support -VAS 6131/13-7-.
–  Remove spur gear drive → Chapter.
–  Remove coolant pump → Chapter.
–  Remove sump (bottom section) → Chapter.
–  Detach coolant pump drive shaft -arrow- from oil pump.
–  Place used oil collection and extraction unit -V.A.G 1782- under engine and leave in position for the following procedure.

–  Remove bolt -arrow- and take out intake connection.

  A17-10560
Some oil will come out when oil pipes are removed.
–  Remove bolts -1 and 2-, turn oil pipe downwards and detach oil pipe.

–  Remove bolts -arrows- and remove oil pump.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:
l  Tightening torques → Chapter „Oil pump and sump (bottom section) - exploded view“
  Note
t  Renew gaskets, seals and O-rings.
t  Renew the bolts tightened with specified tightening angle.
–  Check whether both dowel sleeves for centring in cylinder block or sump (top section) are fitted; insert missing dowel sleeves.
–  Install coolant pump → Chapter.
–  Install sump (bottom section) → Anchor.
–  Install spur gear drive → Chapter.
