1 - High-pressure pipe
  WARNING
Risk of injury - fuel system operates under high pressure.
The fuel pressure in the high-pressure section of the injection system must be reduced to a residual pressure prior to opening the system.
q   Reducing fuel pressure in high-pressure section of injection system → Chapter
q   Tighten connecting piece to 40 Nm (always make sure that connecting piece is tightened to specified torque before installing fuel line)
q   Connections must not be damaged
q   Do not alter shape
q   Lubricate thread lightly with engine oil
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
2 - Union nut
q   Connections must not be damaged
q   Lubricate thread lightly with engine oil
q   25 Nm
3 - High-pressure pump
q   Cylinder bank 1 (right-side): with fuel metering valve -N290-
q   Cylinder bank 2 (left-side): with fuel metering valve 2 -N402-
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
4 - Bolt
q   22 Nm
5 - O-ring
q   Renew
6 - Roller tappet
7 - Union nut
q   Connections must not be damaged
q   Lubricate thread lightly with engine oil
q   25 Nm
8 - High-pressure pipe

9 - Bolt
q   9 Nm

   
High-pressure pipe - tightening torques
–  Tighten each union nut by hand until it makes contact, making sure that high-pressure pipe is not under tension.
–  Tighten union nuts -arrows- to 25 Nm; to do so, counterhold at hexagon flats of threaded connection on fuel rail with an open-end spanner.
–  Do not tighten bolt -1- for retainer until high-pressure pipe has been tightened; tightening torque → Rep. gr.17.
