AFFECTED VEHICLE
CONDITION
Whistling noises come from the dashboard vents, particularly in the 3-8 range with convenience air conditioning Plus or in the middle range with the
auto convenience air conditioning.
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
This is caused by one of four conditions:
Condition 1. All dashboard vents are closed.
Condition 2. Leaves or dirt are in the plenum chamber or in front of the dust and pollen filter.
Condition 3. The seal in the plenum chamber between the blower box and the bulkhead is squashed.
Condition 4. The air conditioning unit in the passenger compartment leaks.
PRODUCTION SOLUTION
Condition 1. No change. The cause is by incorrect settings for the operation of the air conditioning system.
Condition 2. No change.
Condition 3. The rubber seal is covered with Isopropanol in the plenum chamber between the blower unit and distributor box to ensure fail-proof
installation.
Condition 4. Sealed the evaporator flange with felt and rubber.
SERVICE
Condition 1. Check whether all dashboard vents are open.

is found, take off both dust and pollen filters and remove any dirt with a vacuum cleaner and the special tool VAS 6288. If the noise persists, see 3.
Condition 3. Completely remove the air intake unit in the plenum chamber according to the directions in the A6 air conditioning repair manual. If a seal
