Climate Control Malfunctions

Supersedes T.B. 87-95-01 dated Feb. 8, 1995 

Condition:
Climate control system malfunction due to intermittent +30 power supply to the control head. The following symptom(s) may be experienced:

Clicking noise heard under dash.

^

Control head settings cannot be changed.

^

Climate control h6ad may record Diagnostic Trouble Codes for 4 servo motors, and clutch speed deviation too high.

Production:
Improved control head installed as of VIN 4A_SN076991.

Service

1.

Obtain radio code from customer.

2.

Disconnect battery.

3.

Remove lower left instrument panel trim.

4.

Remove the fuse panel from left side of instrument panel and slide rear cover off.

5.

Remove power supply (red 2.5 mm) wire with connector from S8 fuse, terminal 8 in fuse panel.

6.

Remove connector from red 2.5 mm wire, insulate wire end and secure wire to harness.

7.

Obtain 14 inches of red 2.5 mm wire and attach 1 eyelet connector, Part No.: 4A0 972 001 at one end and 1 female connector, Part No.: 4A0 972
002 at other end.
