Affected Vehicles

91 Radio, navigation, CD inoperable with no display

Condition

This bulletin applies only if all the following conditions are observed:

-

The driver information system of the dash insert does not display information concerning radios, CD players/changers, navigation units and
phones.

-

The times of the MMI display unit and of the dash insert differ. The time in the MMI display unit has stopped.

-

The MMI operating unit in the center console is not lit when the vehicle light is on.

-

When setting a different temperature on the air conditioning control panel, this is not shown on the MMI display unit.

-

No operation via the multifunction steering wheel is possible.

Without each of these symptoms, this bulletin does not apply.

Technical Background

No information can be exchanged via the interface of the diagnosis control unit (Gateway) to the MOST bus. Consequently, the MMI display unit no
longer responds to signals from the vehicle (terminal 15, speed signal, operation through multi-function steering wheel, operation through air
conditioning control panel,...).

Production Solution

Optimized Gateway control units.

Service

If all complaints apply, replace the Gateway diagnosis control unit. Optimized Gateway control units are from the production date 01-08-2005 (A6 and
A8).

Unjustified removed parts will be re-debited.
