AFFECTED VEHICLES

CONDITION
Tailgate inoperative at times.

TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
Possible incorrect signal from closing/opening assist switch F 332/ F 333.

PRODUCTION SOLUTION 
Not applicable.

SERVICE
In case a customer complains that the A6 Avant tailgate is not operating (closing or opening) sporadically:

Prior to replacing tailgate drive motors:

Perform closing assist switch test plan and check MVBs to check function of the closing assist switch (F332 or F333).

^ In VAS Tester Select: GFF >> Go to >> Function Component Selection >> Body (Rep. Gr 01;27;50-97) >> Body (Repair Groups 01; 50 - 77) >> 55

- Hoods, Lids >> Electrical components

Run F332 and F333 test plans and repair accordingly.

- On Board Diagnostic (OBD) capable systems >> 46 - Central control module for comfort systems

MVB 13, display field 2 indicates the position of the F332 or F333 micro switch, check if position corresponds to the tailgate position

In case of incorrect or missing signal, replace the striker plate which includes micro switch F332 and F333.
