‹› The slots in the balance shaft sprocket must be at the middle position in relation to the threaded holes of the balance shaft. If necessary, adjust

chain by one tooth.

Tighten chain tensioner bolts.

-

Loosely screw in bolts - 1 - for sprocket.

‹› Chain sprocket must still be able to be rotated on balance shaft and must not tip.

Locating Pin

-

Press against the chain tensioner guide rail - arrow - with screwdriver and simultaneously fasten the bolts - 1 - for sprocket.

Remove the Locating Pin (T40116) from the balance shaft.

Further installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

Install lower timing chain cover. Refer to => [ Left and Right Timing Chain Covers ] See: Timing Components/Timing Cover/Service and
Repair/Left and Right Timing Chain Covers.

Install left and right timing chain covers. Refer to => [ Left and Right Timing Chain Covers ] See: Timing Components/Timing Cover/Service and
Repair/Left and Right Timing Chain Covers.

Install the crankshaft seal on the transmission side. Refer to => [ Crankshaft Seal, Transmission Side ] See: Seals and Gaskets/Crankshaft Main
Bearing Seal/Service and Repair/Crankshaft Seal, Transmission Side.

Vehicles with multitronic transmission. Refer to: Install flywheel => [ Flywheel, Multitronic Transmission ]  and damper unit => [ Damper Unit ]

Vehicles with automatic transmission 09L. Refer to: Install drive plate => [ Drive Plate, Automatic Transmission 09L ] .

Fill engine oil and check oil level.
