Washers/Wipers - Rear Washer Jet Leakage Into Interior

Hose to rear washer jet leaking; Bose sound system, MMI, or navigation without function

Condition

1. Rear washer jet is without function.
2. Bose sound-system, MMI, telephone, or navigation without function.

Technical Background

The washer fluid hose to the rear washer jet breaks near the last mounting on the D-pillar due to opening and closing of the tail gate. (See Illustration 1.)

As a result, the washer fluid is entering the vehicle in the left rear corner causing water ingress to the electrical connections of one or more electrical
components.

Production Solution

Additional installation of a rubber hose to offer additional support in the area of movement of the original water line. (See Illustration 2.)

Service

1. Remove both D-pillar trim, tail gate trim and rear headliner trim.
