Impact Sensor: Service and Repair
Lateral Acceleration Sensor, Removing And Installing
NOTE:
-
A lateral acceleration sensor is installed under each of the front seats.
-
The two sensors are identical.
-
Arrow faces outward on installation.
Removing
See Caution before beginning repairs on electrical system

Disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap/cable.
-
Remove front seat.
-
Remove lower A-pillar trim.
-
Unclip sill panel trim on inside.
-
Disconnect connector - 2 - for lateral acceleration sensor - 1 -.
-
Remove screws - 3 - (2x).
Tightening torque: 6 Nm (53 in.lb)

Remove lateral acceleration sensor - 1 -.
Installing
-
Switch on ignition.
-
Close doors.
WARNING: Make sure there is nobody inside the vehicle.

Connect battery Ground (GND) strap.
NOTE:
-
After connecting battery, check vehicle equipment (radio, clock, power windows) as per Repair Manual and/or Owner's manual.

If the airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) -K75- signals a malfunction after assembling then the DTC memory must be erased and
checked again with VAG 1551 scan tool.
