Steering Wheel: Service and Repair
"Up to 08/1997"

Steering Wheel (up To 08.97), Removing And Installing

WARNING:  Observe the safety precautions for working on airbags.

Removing

-

Remove airbag unit.

-

Center the steering wheel (wheels in straight ahead position).

-

Remove bolt - 5 -.

-

Disconnect connectors - 2 - and - 10 -.

Installing

-

Set steering wheel in center position (wheels in straight ahead position).

-

Make sure that the connectors and the airbag engage fully (i.e. audibly).

-

Install new bolt - 5 - and tighten to 60 Nm (44 ft lb).

-

Install airbag unit.
