Suspension strut, servicing (front-wheel drive vehicles)

Do not re-use fasteners that are worn or deformed in normal use.

Some fasteners are designed to be used only once, and are unreliable and may fail if used a second time. This includes, but is not limited to, nuts,
bolts, washers, circlips and cotter pins. Always follow recommendations-replace these fasteners with new parts where indicated, and any other
time it is deemed necessary by inspection.
1. Gas-filled shock absorber

Can be replaced individually; use correct version.

Discarded shock absorbers must always be correctly prepared for disposal
^
Check shock absorber for leaks and noises.
2. Nut

Always replace
3. Bolt M10 x 90

Always replace

50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.) + 1/4-turn (90°)

Only tighten when vehicle is standing on its wheels
4. Protective cap

Press on as far as possible
5. Protective tube
6. Stop buffer
7. Bolt

45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.)
8. Shock absorber mount
9. Self-locking nut

Always replace

25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)
