Drive Belt: Testing and Inspection

Ribbed Belt Alignment, Checking

Check the alignment of the ribbed belt after replacing the following components:

‹› Power steering pump

‹› Air Conditioning (A/C) compressor

‹› Accessory bracket (for power steering pump and A/C compressor)

‹› To prevent damage to the ribbed belt, check the alignment of the ribbed belt between the A/C compressor and the power steering pump.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Alignment gauge (3201)

‹› Spanner wrench (3212)

Test Sequence

‹› Lock carrier is pulled toward the front. Refer to => [ Lock Carrier, Pulling Toward the Front ] See: Body and Frame/Lock Carrier/Service and

Repair/Procedures/Lock Carrier, Pulling Toward the Front.

‹› Ribbed belt is removed. Refer to => [ Ribbed Belt ] See: Service and Repair/Ribbed Belt.

Place the (3201) on Air Conditioning (A/C) compressor pulley.

‹› The power steering pump pulley and A/C compressor pulley must align.

If the pulleys do not align:

-

Remove the power steering pump pulley bolts - arrows -.
