Front Strut / Shock Tower: Removal and Replacement
Front Suspension

Mounting Bracket

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Torque wrench (5-50 Nm) (VAG 1331)

‹› Torque wrench (40-200 Nm) (VAG 1332)

Removing

-

Place the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to => [ Positioning Vehicle on the Hoist and on its Wheels ] See: Steering and Suspension/Suspension/Service
and Repair/Procedures/Positioning Vehicle on the Hoist and on its Wheels.

Remove the air spring damper. Refer to => [ Air Spring Damper ] See: Steering and Suspension/Suspension/Suspension Control ( Automatic -
Electronic )/Air Spring/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Front Suspension/Air Spring Damper.

Secure the air spring damper with protective covers in a vise.

Remove the front and rear upper control arms. Refer to => [ Upper Control Arms ] See: Steering and Suspension/Suspension/Control Arm/Service
and Repair/Upper Control Arms.

Remove the mounting bracket bolts - 1 - from the air spring damper.

Installing

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Observe the following when doing so:

Install the mounting bracket and bolts - 1 - to the air spring damper. Tightening specification, see - item 4  - in => [ Mounting Bracket, Upper
