Whirring noise from front of engine.

Technical Background

May be caused by dirt and water entering ribbed belt upper idler roller bearing.

Production Solution

Improved upper idler roller with bearing cap.

Service

1. Ensure all components (such as ribbed v-belt, belt tensioner, generator, vibration damper, A/C compressor, power steering pump and lower idler
roller) are correct and aligned properly. Replace the idler roller only if the other components are correct and aligned properly.

2. Open hood and check existing roller. If plastic upper idler roller with cap is already installed, the vehicle has already been updated and no further
work is necessary.
