ATF Level, Checking

  Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing & info. System (VAS5051B)

‹› Used Oil Extraction and Collection Device (V.A.G 1782)

‹› ATF Filler Tool (V.A.G 1924)

‹› Protective eyewear

Test Conditions

  ‹› The transmission must not be in the emergency running

‹› The vehicle must be horizontal.

‹› Selector lever in P and engine at idle

‹› The A/C and the heater are off.

‹› Vehicle diagnosis tester connected, select Vehicle Self-Diagnosis and 02 - Transmission Electronic => Vehicle Diagnosis Tester.

‹› At the start of the testing, the ATF temperature must not be higher than 30 Â°C (86 Â°F); let the transmission cool down.

  ‹› The vehicle diagnosis tester reads the ATF temperature.

‹› The ATF level will vary according to the temperature of the ATF.

‹› Performing ATF level check when the ATF temperature is too low causes overfilling.

‹› Performing ATF level check when the ATF temperature is too high causes underfilling.

‹› Overfilling or underfilling will influence the function of the transmission.

‹› Only use the ATF available as a replacement part for the planetary gear in automatic transmission 09E. Other oils could cause malfunctions or

damage the transmission. Follow the ATF specifications for the appropriate transmission codes.

Check the ATF Temperature.

Connect the vehicle diagnosis tester.

 Turn on the ignition and select Vehicle Self-Diagnosis and 02 - Transmission Electronics => Vehicle Diagnosis Tester.
