Connecting link, removing and installing

Special tools and equipment

V.A.G 1332 Torque wrench

Removing
^

Place vehicle on lifting platform.

^

Remove wheel trim, detach trim cap for light-alloy wheels (puller in vehicle tool kit).

^

Remove wheel.

^

Secure brake disc with a wheel bolt.

^

First remove bolt -3-, then bolt -1- and detach connecting link -2-, raise wheel bearing housing slightly, if necessary.

Installing
Installation is in reverse order. Note the following:

The tightening torques of nuts/bolts and information on whether the nuts/bolts must be replaced can be found => (layout of front axle
components).

Initially tighten nuts/bolts of components with bonded rubber bushing hand-tight only. Raise the wheel bearing housing in order to tighten the
nuts/bolts (control position).

^

install the connecting link so that the arrow points forward and is visible from the outside.
This ensures that the larger diameter of the bearing sleeve fits closely against the stabilizer bar/control arm.

^

Install and tighten wheel.
