Air Spring Damper, Removing and Installing

Air spring damper, removing and installing

Special tools and equipment

V.A.G 1332 Torque wrench

^

V.A.G 1783 Torque wrench

^

V.A.G 1783/1 Spanner attachment (10 mm A/F)

^

Square timber (hardwood) 30 x 50 x 1000 mm

Removing
The air spring damper is removed together with the mounting and the upper links.
During assembly, make sure that there are no indentations in the boot of the air spring damper.

Place vehicle on lifting platform.

^

Remove wheel trim, detach trim cap for light alloy wheels (puller in vehicle tool kit).

Remove wheel.

^

Secure brake disc with a wheel bolt.

^

Clean the air connection area.

^

Unscrew the connection piece -1- from the residual pressure retention valve -2-. Air will escape when doing this.

Note:  The residual pressure retention valve -2- must not be loosened or removed.

Seal both connections, make sure that no particles of dirt enter the connections.

^

Remove front noise insulation.

^

Unbolt drive axle at flange shaft/transmission.
