Parking Brake Cable: Service and Repair

Parking brake cables, removing and installing
Removing

-

Remove both rear wheels.

-

Release parking brake.

-

For Quattro vehicles, remove rear exhaust system.

-

Remove center heat insulation.

Note: Mark the position at the rear final drive where the driveshaft is bolted.

-

Remove the mounting bolts for driveshaft/rear final drive -1-.

-

Remove heat insulation in drive tunnel (arrow).

-

Loosen adjustment nut for parking brake cable using 3343 parking brake adjustment wrench.

-

Remove parking brake cable from compensator.

-

Remove locking spring (arrow) of parking brake cable.
