Transmission Cooler: Procedures
09L, 6 Speed A/T
ATF lines and ATF cooler, cleaning 09L, 6 Speed A/T
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Old oil collecting and extracting device V.A.G 1782

Compressed air gun, commercially available
Note:
^
Before installing a replacement transmission, clean ATF cooler and ATF lines. If extremely dirty ATF flows out when blowing with compressed
air, ATF cooler and ATF lines must also be flushed with clean ATF.

Rules of cleanliness for working on automatic transmissions.
^
Carefully clean all joints and adjacent areas before disconnecting.
^
When installing ATF lines, insert them by hand completely into transmission or ATF cooler as far as stop and then tighten.
Work procedure

Place used oil collection and extraction device V.A.G 1782 under separating point.

Remove bolt - 2 -.
-
Push hose onto ATF line - A - and fasten with hose clamp. Hang other end of hose in oil collecting container.
CAUTION!
Wear eye protection.

Blow through ATF line - B - with a compressed air gun (with max. 10 bar).

Change hose from ATF line - A - to ATF line - B - and repeat procedure.

Re-secure ATF lines.

Check ATF level in planetary gearing.
