Ribbed Belt

Removing

-

Bring lock carrier into service position => [ Lock Carrier, Moving into Service Position ] See: Service and Repair/Lock Carrier, Moving into
Service Position.

Carefully pull the engine cover at the rear and middle upward and off - arrows 1 -.

Then, pull the engine cover forward and off from intake manifold - arrows 2 -.

‹› Before removing ribbed belt, mark the turning direction on it with chalk or a felt tip pen. A reversed direction of rotation can cause damage to the

belt under operating conditions.

To relieve tension on the ribbed belt, pivot the tensioner in direction of - arrow -, using a 30 mm box-end wrench.

Remove ribbed belt and release tensioning device.

Installing

Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

-

First place the ribbed belt onto the vibration damper belt pulley, then onto the remaining belt pulleys, and finally onto the tensioning roller.
