Heater Core: Service and Repair
Right Heat Exchanger (Front Passenger's Side), Removing and Installing

Right Heat Exchanger (front Passenger's Side), Removing And Installing

NOTE:  Remove left heat exchanger first.

Removing

-

Perform preparatory work involved with heat exchanger removal.

-

Remove glove compartment.

-

Remove footwell vent.

-

Cover carpet under heat exchanger with impermeable sheeting and absorbent paper.

Slightly moisten contact surface between both coolant pipes -D- and -E- at grommet -C- from inside as well with silicone lubricant (to ensure that
pipes can be moved without changing position of grommet; this illustration shows pipes as viewed from plenum chamber).

Remove clamps -A- and -B-.

-

Take both coolant pipes out of heat exchanger.

-

Push both coolant pipes towards plenum chamber.

NOTE:  As grommet has been moistened slightly with silicone lubricant in area of coolant pipe penetration, pipes can be moved without grommet
being pushed out of heating and A/C unit.

-

Screw out bolts -C-.

-

Detach holder.

-

Pull heat exchanger -D- out of heating and A/C unit.
