11 - Side Curtain Airbag

‹› Removing

‹› The battery must be disconnected when the ignition is switched on. 

-

Switch on ignition.

-

Disconnect the battery ground strap.

-

Remove sun visor => [ Sun Visor ] See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Headliner/Service and Repair.

-

Remove roof grab handles => [ Roof Grab Handle ] See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Service and Repair/Removal and
Replacement/Trim.

-

Remove upper trim on A-pillar => [ Upper A-Pillar Trim ] See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Service and Repair/Removal and
Replacement/Trim.

-

Remove garment hook => [ Garment Hook ] See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Trim.

-

Remove D-pillar trim => [ D-Pillar Trim ] See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Trim.

-

Remove rear shelf => [ Rear Shelf ] See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Trim.

-

Remove nuts - 13 - (Qty. 6).

-

Remove nut - 15 -.

-

Unclip cable harness - 2 - at clip - 1 -. 

-

Pull release tab - 6 - and disconnect connector on chassis side - 4 -.

-

Disconnect harness connector - 3 - on airbag side. 

-

Remove nut - 7 -.

-

Lift cable harness - 2 - and pull out bracket -  9 -.

-

Remove head-level airbag - 1 - from vehicle.

‹› Installing

CAUTION!
Always follow side curtain airbag installation procedure.

-

Engage bracket - 9 - via slot - 10 - into threaded pins - 8 - and fasten nut - 7 -.

-

Engage bracket - 17 - into threaded pins -  14 - and fasten nut - 15 -.

-

Continue to engage head-level airbag into threaded pins and install nuts - 13 - (Qty. 6).

-

Press on igniter - 16 -.

-

Make sure that threaded pins - 8 - make contact on rear stop of slot - 10 -.

-

Tighten nuts - 7 - and - 15 -.

-

Tighten nut - 13 - on bracket - 12 -. 

-

Tighten nuts - 13 - (Qty. 5) in succession.
