9. Union nut from the (VAG 1402)

Make sure that lever on the (VAG 1402) is in the open position - 2 -.

Start the engine without pressing the accelerator pedal.

-

Turn the steering wheel from lock to lock about 10 times.

Switch off the engine and, if needed, top off the hydraulic fluid in reservoir.

Check the delivery pressure.

-

Start the engine and when it is running at idle, close the lever - 1 - and read the pressure.

‹› To avoid damage to the pump, note the following:

‹› The pressure gauge lever must not remained closed longer than 10 seconds during this test.

‹› Start the engine and let it run at idle without pressing the accelerator pedal.

‹› Read the pump pressure at idle speed immediately after starting (have a second technician read it if necessary).

‹› Because the pressure falls over the course of the test, the highest pressure shown is the decisive measurement.

At idle speed, read the pressure on the (VAG 1402) (measurement no longer than 10 seconds).

Delivery Pressure Specification: 125 to 130 bar

If the specification is not obtained, replace the power steering pump. Refer to => [ Power Steering Pump Assembly Overview ] See: Service and
Repair/Removal and Replacement/Power Steering Components.

Switch off the engine.

-

Remove the (VAG 1402).
