Radio/Stereo: Description and Operation
Stereo System Description

General information

NOTES:

-

When a new model is introduced, a new generation of radio with updated design and technology is installed.

-

Should a problem arise, it is important that the technician understand the function and operation of the stereo system. For additional information
See radio operating manual.

-

When troubleshooting, repairing, or replacing the stereo system, refer to the appropriate wiring diagram, as well as installation instructions
supplied with replacement parts.

-

Use only authorized Audi replacement radios and/or parts to ensure proper system performance and optimum reception.

-

Both active (amplified) and passive (non-amplified) speakers are used.

-

Power, battery positive voltage (B+), is supplied to the radio via a fuse in the fuse panel

-

The radio anti-theft coding is fixed (cannot be changed) and must be re-entered whenever the radio power supply (B+) has been disconnected.

-

A rear antenna amplifier is installed in each of the 0-pillars (left-side 0-pillar: AM and FM antenna amplifier; right-side 0-pillar: FM antenna
amplifier only).

When installing a radio, note the following:

-

Radio connectors provided in the vehicle are intended for use with original Audi radios.

-

Aftermarket radios with other connector types must use an adapter cable.

-

When connecting the radio, make sure that the vehicle speed signal wire is not short-circuited, or there may be related malfunctions in other
vehicle systems.

-

Connecting the vehicle speed signal wire to an aftermarket radio may also cause other vehicle systems to malfunction.
