NOTES:

Always replace seals and gaskets.

Checking coolant Fan Control (FC) thermal switch, refer to See: Engine - Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch/Radiator Cooling Fan Temperature
Sensor / Switch/Testing and Inspection

The thermostat can be replaced without removing the camshaft drive belt.
^
An oil cooler, mounted between the oil filter and the oil filter bracket, is part of coolant system. Additional information, refer to Engine

Opening temperature, Refer to procedure below

Always replace

Thermostat housing

Bolt
-
Tighten to: 10 Nm (7 ft. lbs.)

Gasket

Always replace

Coolant pump
-
To remove, first remove ribbed belt and toothed camshaft drive belt, refer to Engine.

Bolt
-
Tighten to: 10 Nm 17 ft. lbs.)

Remove ribbed drive belt, refer to Engine.
-
Drain coolant.
PROCEDURE
-
Remove toothed belt guard.
NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the toothed camshaft drive belt to remove the thermostat.

Remove thermostat housing from under drive belt cover.
