Front Crankshaft Seal: Service and Repair

FRONT (CAMSHAFT DRIVE BELT SIDE)

-

Remove toothed belt, refer to Timing Components, Timing Belt, Service and Repair  See: Timing Components/Toothed Belt/Service and Repair

Remove toothed belt sprocket from crankshaft.

-

Pull out oil seal using seal remover 3203.

-

Clean running and sealing surfaces.

-

Lightly lubricate sealing lip and outer edge of seal with engine oil before pressing in.

NOTE:

The seal design has a pump function that moves oil back into the housing.

Using grease to lubricate the seal can defeat this function, causing oil leakage.

Use engine oil only.

Slide oil seal over installing sleeve 3202 (not shown).

-

Press in oil seal flush with housing, using seal installer 3265 and crankshaft center bolt.
