Checking Voltage Supply
NOTE:
For functional testing of the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), also see On-Board Diagnostics, "Read Measuring Value Block" function 08,
display group 002. See: Computers and Control Systems/Testing and Inspection
CHECKING BATTERY POSITIVE VOLTAGE (B+) SUPPLY
-
Disconnect harness connector from TPS.
-
Switch ignition on.
6-Pin Connector
-
Connect multimeter to measure voltage between terminals 1 (positive) and 2 (Ground); then between terminals 1 (positive) and 3 (signal wire).
^
Specified values: 4.5-5.5 volts (in each case)
If specified value is obtained:
-
Check resistance of TPS.
If one of the specified values is not obtained:
-
Check wiring to the Engine Control Module (ECM).
