1. Place steering wheel in the straight ahead position.
2. Disarm air bag system as described under Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint Systems),Service and Repair.
3. Remove Driver's air bag unit as described under Air Bag, Service and Repair.
4. Remove steering column upper cover and disconnect spiral spring electrical connector leading to steering wheel, Fig. 11.
5. Remove steering wheel to column shaft nut, then the steering wheel.
6. Remove spiral spring attaching screws.
7. Remove spiral spring from back of steering wheel. Wheels must be in straight ahead position when removing/installing spring. Do not twist

spring after removal.

8. Reverse procedure to install. Tighten spiral spring, steering wheel and air bag unit attaching bolts and nut to specifications
