Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Electronic: Testing and Inspection

1.

Disconnect the harness connector from the idle control valve.

2.

Test the wiring between the two terminal test connector (located by the fuel lines at the right strut tower) Fig. 13, and the connector at the idle
control valve for continuity.  Repair circuit as necessary.

3.

With the ignition ON, battery voltage should be available between terminal 2 of the idle valve harness plug and ground.

4.

Test the wiring between the idle valve harness plug and the CIS-E control unit plug.  Multimeter should show 0 ohms (continuity).

5.

Repair wiring as necessary.

6.

Connect the harness plug to the idle valve and measure the resistance at the CIS-E control unit plug.  Resistance between terminals 3 and 4 should
be 24 - 30 ohms.

7.

If resistance is not within specification, replace the idle control valve.
