Remove circlip.

Press inner CV joint off of drive axle with the tool shown in illustration.
1. Pressure Plate (VW 401) or Pressure Plate (VW 402)
2. Punch (VW 408 A)

Remove spring plate => [ (Item 13) Dished washer ] See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Rear Suspension/Drive Axle with 89 mm
Outer Constant Velocity Joint and 100 mm Inner Constant Velocity Joint Assembly Overview from the shaft, where applicable.

Pull joint protective boot off from driveshaft.
