Trim Panel: Service and Repair
D-Pillar Trim, Removing and Installing

D-pillar Trim, Removing And Installing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

-

Trim removal wedge 3409

Removing

-

Remove roof panel trim.

-

Then remove luggage compartment side trim.

-

Unclip cover cap with Airbag symbol and remove D-pillar trim screws.

NOTE:  Cover cap hangs from D-pillar trim and cannot be removed.

-

Remove D-pillar trim from mounts in body.

Vehicles with seat belt on D-pillar

-

Remove belt extraction panel.

-

Guide seat belt through D-pillar trim opening.

Installing

Installation is reverse of removal. Observe the following when doing so:

NOTE:

-

If trim clamps remain in body mounting points, remove these and insert them in trim.

Check clamps for damage or deformation, replace if necessary.

Remove locking compound residue from threaded screw holes. You can use a thread cutter to do so.
If threaded holes are not cleaned, there is the danger that new screws could seize up during installation and shear off when removed again.

Vehicles with seat belt on D-pillar

-

Install seat belt extraction panel.

Procedure for all vehicles

-

Draw door seal lip over D-pillar trim.

-

Install roof panel trim.

-

Install luggage compartment side trim.
