Coolant Pump

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Water pump wrench (V.A.G 1590)

‹› Drip tray for workshop crane (VAS 6208)

‹› M8 x 50 bolt

‹› If water pump wrench (V.A.G 1590) was not already reworked, file the 3 roundings on wrench to dimension -  a -.

‹› Dimension - a - = 1 mm.

Removing

-

Drain coolant => [ Cooling System, Draining and Filling ] See: Cooling System/Service and Repair.

Remove ribbed belt => [ Ribbed Belt ] See: Drive Belts, Mounts, Brackets and Accessories/Drive Belt/Service and Repair/Ribbed Belt.

Remove ribbed belt pulley while holding with water pump wrench (V.A.G 1590).

‹› If engine is removed, coolant pump bolts are reached through ribbed belt pulley holes. Ribbed belt pulley can remain installed.

Place drip tray (VAS 6208) under engine.
