Affected Vehicles

This RVU has been proactively released to prevent the following condition from occurring in the vehicle:
Engine oil pressure warning light comes on in the instrument cluster when the engine is initially started. The light does not come on again if the engine is
restarted shortly after the initial start.
Furthermore, Audi offers an engine control module (ECM) software update with improved cold start running conditions of the engine at idle. This
software already has been introduced in production but is not included in all vehicles.
This Required Vehicle Update (RVU) is in effect until January 31, 2010. After that date, this RVU will expire and no longer be in effect.
Vehicle must meet all of the following criteria:
-
Procedure is valid only for vehicles that show the CC code in the ElsaWeb Campaign/Action Information screen on the day of repair.
-
Vehicle must be within the Limited New Vehicle Warranty.
-
Procedure must be performed within the allotted time frame stated in this Technical Service Bulletin.
-
Procedure must be performed on applicable vehicles in dealer inventory.
Technical Background

Production Solution
New software in the instrument cluster (J285) and the engine control module (J623) resolved the problems.
