Refrigerant Lines

Refrigerant Lines

‹› With the engine running the compressor is always driven, the compressor has no A/C clutch. For this reason, the engine should only be started

when the refrigerant circuit is completely and properly installed. For example; if the refrigerant lines are not connected, when the engine is running
the compressor may heat up (via internal heat generation) so much that the compressor will be damaged.

‹› Close all open lines and connections on compressor with suitable caps (avoid dirt and moisture from entering the system).

‹› Do not bend, kink or stretch lines or hoses as refrigerant lines and refrigerant hoses may be damaged.

Removing

-

Discharge refrigerant circuit.

-

Remove noise insulation 

-

If necessary, disconnect electrical connection to Refrigerant Temperature Sensor (G454) (if present) at harness connector 

-

Remove bolts - A -.

-

Disconnect refrigerant lines - B - and -  C -.

‹› Illustration shows the arrangement on a 6-cyl. engine.

Installing

Installation is the reverse of removal, noting the following:

-

Replace O-rings seals - D - and - E -, version. 

-

Tighten bolts - B - to 20 Nm.

‹› Do not use the O-rings from the shipping caps that are installed on the connections of replacement compressor when installing lines.

‹› Coat O-ring seals lightly with refrigerant oil before installing => [ O-Ring Seals for Refrigerant Circuit ] See: Heating and Air

‹› After securing refrigerant lines to compressor (and installing compressor), check routing, they must be fully engaged in designated brackets and

cannot come in contact with other components.

Evacuate refrigerant circuit and recharge again.
