Transmission Control Module, Replacing
‹› The Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217) is a component of the mechatronic unit in the transmission and cannot be replaced separately.
‹› To achieve optimal antitheft protection for the vehicle, an antitheft immobilizer was installed. The antitheft immobilizer is a system for
enabling/locking the Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217).
‹› To perform adaptation of the antitheft immobilizer.
Test procedure

Perform a preliminary check to verify the customers complaint. Refer to => [ Preliminary Check ] See: Computers and Control Systems/Testing
and Inspection/Scan Tool Testing and Procedures/Preliminary Check
Start diagnosis
Check the identification of the previous Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217) as follows:

Connect the scan tool.

Switch the ignition on.

Select "Diagnostic mode 9: Vehicle information."

Select "Test-ID 04: Calibration identification".

The Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217) identification will be displayed, e.g.: 09G27750 L 0301
-
End diagnosis and switch the ignition off.
Removal
-
Move the passenger seat to the rear upward position.

Release retaining tabs - A, B, and C - and remove the right passenger seat trim.

Move the passenger seat to the front upward position.

Disconnect the Differential Control Module (J646) electrical harness connector - 2 - and the Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217)
