Output Shaft Seal, Replacing

Output Shaft Seal, Replacing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Puller (T10055)

‹› Adapter (T10055/2)

‹› Sleeve (T10180)

‹› Thrust piece (T10186)

‹› Sheet metal screw

Removing

-

Remove transfer case. 

‹› For the next step, install sheet metal screw so that it jams between seal and metal ring.

‹› Do not screw in metal screw too deeply, to prevent damage to bearing lying behind it.

Install sheet metal screw in shaft seal - arrow -.

Remove seal with Puller (T10055).

Installing

-

Lubricate outer circumference and space between sealing lips with ATF.

‹› Installation position: Open side of shaft seal faces transmission. 

-

Carefully guide shaft seal over output shaft to transmission and lightly press in with hand.

Drive in shaft seal as far as stop with Thrust Piece (T40134). When doing so, do not tilt shaft seal.

Install transfer case.
