Carefully move selector lever forward and backwards slightly without shifting to a different selector lever position.

‹› This loosens the selector lever cable.

Switch ignition on.

The two following conditions must be fulfilled:

‹› The "S" from "PRNDS" display in instrument cluster Transmission Range (TR) Display (Y6) must light up.

‹› The "S" symbol in Selector Lever Transmission Range (TR) Position Display (Y26) must light up.

Conditions are not fulfilled:

Tighten selector lever cable clamping bolt - arrow - in this position using Socket (T40031).

Connect Vehicle Diagnostic, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051) read out DTC memory, correct malfunctions in Guided Fault Finding if
necessary.

Then perform selector lever cable adjustment again => [ Selector Lever Cable, Adjusting ] See: 

Conditions are fulfilled:

‹› When tightening locking screw, selector lever must not be moved forward or backwards or adjustment will be incorrect.

Tighten selector lever cable bolt - arrow - in this position using Socket (T40031).

Rest of installation is in reverse order of removal.
